Chess in Bogotá, from the food hall to the library
Chess in Bogotá runs on tournament days more than on club nights. A numbered series fills the food hall of the Avenida Chile mall, the league and the federation hold championships in malls such as Outlet Factory, public libraries from Usme to Suba keep free chess clubs, and in the Sabana the Cundinamarca circuit stops in Soacha, Cajicá and Tocancipá.

Chess960 in Bogotá
One over-the-board event with a Chess960-style name has turned up in the Bogotá area: a tournament titled “FREESTYLE KALLPA”, played on 21 February 2026 at Club de Ajedrez Kallpa in La Castellana. Its listing prints only the title, so whether the pieces started from shuffled positions is not stated. Nothing of the kind was found in Soacha, Cajicá or the other Sabana towns.
In Chess960 the back-rank pieces begin in one of 960 shuffled orders, so prepared openings stop counting from the first move. Until the next event in the city it can be played online at ch960.com.

How this directory is kept
Each card stands on pages a reader can open: tournament listings, the agendas of the library network, a university timetable, a school form, a radio report. Every fact carries the day its page was read; the pages behind this edition were read up to .
Cards are ordered by the date of their newest sign of chess, not by merit. A field that no page fills reads “not stated by sources”. What the status lines mean, and where the directory stops, is set out in the editorial method.
Does your club, library or tournament belong here?
Series move to new venues, a library shifts its chess club to another afternoon, a club opens a room somewhere in the Sabana. If a card is out of date or a place is missing, send a short note with a link to the page that shows it.
